J.R. Overseas was founded by John (Jack) Raabe in 1980 as a way to supply quality tools and other products to the marine industry. As a retired executive from the coatings industry, Jack was an expert in the major role coatings play on the performance and maintenance of boats, ships and yachts. The first moisture meter he sold, a Novanex, changed his product line forever.

The idea for J.R. Overseas was sparked when someone brought an early moisture meter to one of the meetings at Pettit Paint where Jack was working.  Jack got interested enough to eventually leave his position and start his own company.  Selling moisture meters and other specialty tools became a profitable business.

Today, J.R. Overseas is the primary U.S. distributor of marine, hand held, non-destructive moisture meters. With both pin and non-destructive hand-held meters used for assessing moisture levels in fiberglass and wood - you'll find our products meet every budget and application from boat owners, to professional surveyors, to yacht builders.
